What is a dental implant?

A dental implant is a titanium element that is placed through a minimally invasive intervention in the jawbone in order to replace a natural root of a missing tooth.

The implant can support dental crowns, dental bridges, dental prostheses.

The implantation process takes place in two stages.

1. Placing the dental implant
2. Tooth construction upgrade

In order for the dental implant to be integrated by the human body, a fine bond must be established between the implant and the jawbone.

The process takes between 2 and 4 months depending on the implant to be placed – the so-called osseointegration process.

Complete healing of the bone around the implant can take up to 4 months.

Planning

The possibility of placing dental implants depends on:

  • the patient’s state of health
  • medication intake
  • the local condition of the gums
  • the volume of the jaw bone

There are some prerequisites that exclude the placement of dental implants and others that increase the risk of implant failure.

Patients with poor dental hygiene, smokers and diabetics are at greater risk of periodontal disease, which can lead to implant failure.

This, in turn, increases the long-term likelihood of the dental implant falling out.

It is absolutely forbidden to place dental implants on patients who are undergoing treatment with chemotherapy and radiotherapy.

How will the procedure go?

The placement of dental implants in our outpatient clinic is performed using minimally invasive methods divided into several stages with sufficient healing time between procedures.

The process of placing a dental implant includes the following steps:

  1. Removal of roots and teeth that have lost their function.
  2. Jawbone preparation (grafting) when needed.
  3. Placing a dental implant
  4. Healing
  5. Installing an upgrade
  6. Placing an artificial tooth

ALL-ON-X

When all the teeth are lost, or when everything already seems unsalvageable, the all-on-x grip is a second chance for change.

Implantology can help to restore both the aesthetics of the teeth, speech and their full functionality. All-on-X stands for “restoration of all teeth”, where X is the number of implants used.

It is possible to use 4, 6 and 8 implants. A minimum of 4 implants can be used and this is the preferred treatment for bone loss in order to avoid extensive bone and tissue reconstruction.

Optimal reconstruction can be achieved with 6 implants for the lower jaw and 8 implants for the upper jaw.

Using the optimal number of implants is not always a factor in good treatment, as good distribution of implants is of greater importance.

In order to achieve long-term results, implants must be placed based on advance planning. This is achieved after a precise and specific planning process so that all variable factors can be taken into account.

All-on-X is a concept in dentistry that can be carried out with modern digital skills and technological skills, which is why having a dental laboratory is as important as a good implantologist.

Types of structures

  • Single implant with crown
  • Bridge structure of 3 teeth with a crown
  • Prosthesis on 2 or 4 implants (depending on the jaw) with clasps
  • Screw-fixed (fixed) chine

In our outpatient clinic, we focus on the correct construction according to the case of each patient. After a consultation, we can guide you as to which structure would be most suitable for the condition of your teeth at the moment.

The implants we place are a high-class medical device.

We provide an implant passport with stickers and a serial number for each implant placed.

We use digital drills that allow for high precision placement of the implant itself.

The price for one dental implant in individual implantology clinics in Bulgaria varies roughly between BGN 1,200 and BGN 3,500.

After an initial examination and consultation, we can direct you to get a 3D scan so that we can determine where and what sizes of dental implants can be placed.

The next step is to draw up an individual treatment plan and discuss specifics regarding future treatment.
